The 2023 season of the Nigeria Women’s Football League Nationwide will officially kick off on Wednesday May 22nd, according to the NWFL Secretariat.
NWFL Chief Operating Officer (COO), Modupe Shabi confirmed that the country’s women’s third-tier league this season will run from May 22 to 27 and will be staged in Benin City, Edo State.
According to the NWFL secretariat, 10 clubs registered to compete this season and are split into two groups of five each.
The participating clubs are Castmog Ladies, Chosen Generation, First Mahi Babes, Fortress Ladies, Gallant Queens, Heroes Queens, Kaduna Queens, Papa Soccer Queens, Unification FCand Wazbak Int’l.
Following a draw, Group A comprises of Heroes Queens Academy, Papa Soccer Academy, Gallant Queens, First Mahi Babes and Wazbak Int’l, while Group B houses Chosen Generation, Unification, Fortress Int’l, Kaduna Queens and Castmog Ladies.
After the Nationwide campaign this season, two teams are expected to qualify for the nation’s women’s second-tier league, NWFL Championship next season.
