Edo Queens will resume their race for the 2022/23 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership glory as they face off with Confluence Queens at the Super Six tourney in Asaba on Wednesday.
Moses Aduku’s side topped Group B at the end of the regular season with 25 points amassing eight wins, a draw, and three losses.
On the other hand, Confluence Queens emerged from the same group with 21 points with six wins, three draws, and three losses.
Whyte Ogbonda’s side will have to bounce back from a 3-1 loss to host, Delta Queens on Tuesday.
Comparatively, Edo Queens have won three of the last five games between both sides with Confluence Queens winning a match and a draw.
The Benin City-based side edged the Lokoja-based outfit 1-0 during the 2020/2021 season with Temilope Owoeye’s goal.
In 2022, they both met twice with a 1-1 score line in Lokoja, while Suliat Abideen’s brace gave Edo Queens a 2-0 win in Benin City.
During the regular season, both sides won their home games. Edo Queens earned a 4-2 win against Confluence Queens in Benin City as Confluence Queens pipped Aduku’s side 2-1 in Lokoja.
Fans must brace up to a tightly contested duel from the two teams at the Stephen Keshi Stadium.
On the back of winning the title with Bayelsa Queens in 2022, Aduku who has since joined Edo Queens will aim to replicate a similar feat with the Benin-based side.
