NWFL Premiership Super 6: Rivers Angels v Bayelsa Queens Stats Preview

2021 champions will trade tackles with the defending (2022) champions for a place in the final of the 2022/2023 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership Super Six on Friday.

The battle of Group A table toppers at the Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba, Delta State, rekindle one of the fiercest rivalries in the Nigerian topflight and also serves as a dress rehearsal for the 2023 Federation Cup final coming up next Thursday at the same venue.

Apart from both side being neighbours, clashes between the two South-South teams promises to be an unpredictable duel.

Both sides won their first group games with Jewel of the Rivers having an advantage at the top of the log with a goal advantage after a 2-0 win over FC Robo Queens.

The Prosperity Girls earned a 1-0 win against the Lagos Landladies thanks to Sabastine Flourish’s goal on Wednesday.

Edwin Okon’s side needs to avoid defeat to reach the final while Domo Okara’s wards won’t progress to the final if it can’t secure a win over Rivers Angels.

In its last seven Head-to-Head games, Bayelsa Queens has won four games while Rivers Angels can boast of three wins.

Goals from Flourish Sabastine and Etim Edidiong lifted the Yenegoa-based side to a 2-1 win against Rivers Angels during their last meeting in Port Harcourt with the visitors securing a double over the 2021 champions during the regular season.

From Group A, Bayelsa Queens qualified in the second position with 25 points, seven wins, four draws, and a loss.

Rivers Angels followed with 20 points amassing five wins, five draws, and two losses.

One would expect another win from either side based on its previous seven head to heads which didn’t end in a draw.
