The 2022-2023 Nigeria Women’s Football League Premiership season wrapped up on Sunday, with Delta Queens clinching a fifth title with a 2-1 win over former champions Bayelsa Queens.
Delta Queens’ crowning marked the end of an incredible season, full of sensational matches, stunning twists and new revelations in terms of teams and players.
NWFL reviews some facts and statistics from this season.
0 – Ibom Angels didn’t record any draws throughout its 12 league games.
1 – Delta Queens ended the season as the only team that didn’t taste defeat. It played 15 games without a loss during the regular season and Super Six. It also represents the number of players that scored a hat-trick throughout the season. Delta Queens’ Mercy Omokwo was the only player that scored a hat-trick throughout the season during her team’s 3-1 win over Heartland Queens on Matchday 10.
3 – Matchday 11 produced the least number of goals with three goals and three goalless draws.
6 -This is the highest number of draws recorded by a team. Delta Queens with six draws have the most number of stalemates in the NWFL Premiership season. It is also the number of league titles won by Delta Queens after the season’s triumph.
8 – The highest number of goals in a match was recorded during FC Robo Queens’ 7-1 win over Ibom Angels on Matchday 12. The game was also the match with the highest winning margin.
9 – Delta Queens’ Mercy Omokwo ended the season as the top goal scorer with nine goals. It also represented the highest number of wins. Delta Queens and Edo Queens recorded the most number of wins with nine wins across regular season and Super Six.
10 – Ibom Angels with ten losses had the highest number of defeats after 12 league games.
18 – Match days 10 and 12 produced the highest number of goals during the regular season with 18 goals each.

24 -This represents the number of goals scored by the best-attacking teams. Delta Queens, Edo Queens, and FC Robo Queens with 24 goals apiece scored the most number of goals during the season.
