With 19 teams entered for the 2024 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Championship, Moje Queens is fully aware of the challenge ahead and is prepared to make a strong push for promotion.

As one of two teams from Kwara state participating in the Championship, Moje Queens aims to secure a spot in the top-flight.

“We are excited about the prospect of facing Kwara Ladies again,” said Samuel Ademola Abejide, team manager of Moje Queens.

“We have a history with them, having beaten them in Ijebu Ode in 2022 and then losing to them in Ikenne in 2023.”

Moje Queens has been preparing intensively for the Championship, with a focus on securing Premiership promotion.

“This season, we started our preparations earlier than in previous years. Our players have been in camp for four to five months, training twice daily,” Abejide added.

The Erin-Ile-based team has also engaged in several friendly matches, including against U-15 boys in Osun state, the University of Ilorin female team, and the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) female team, winning all these encounters.

“This season, we have a blend of experienced and talented young players,” Abejide continued.

“We believe this combination will help us secure promotion to the Premiership. We understand the Championship will be more competitive this year, but we are determined to outperform our previous seasons.”

After finishing third in Group B behind Heartland Queens and Dannaz Ladies in 2022 and ending up at the bottom of the table the following year, Moje Queens is poised to leverage their experience and deliver a strong performance in their quest for promotion.
