The 19 clubs registered for the 2024 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Championship now know their opponents, with the competition set to begin on Saturday, August 31, in Calabar, Cross River State.
The teams have been divided into four groups. Groups A1 and A2 each contain five teams, while Groups B1 and B2 have four teams each.
Seven-time NWFL Premiership champions and hosts, Pelican Stars, are in Group A1, where they will compete against Heroes Queens, First Mahi, Castmog Ladies, and Imo Strikers.
Group A2 consists of Osun Babes, Kaduna Queens, Wazbak International, Moje Queens, and Gallant Queens.
Group B1 features two-time President Federation Cup finalists Ibom Angels, along with Chosen Generation, Unification Queens, Delta Babes, and Papa Soccer Academy.
Group B2 is made up of Honey Badgers, Kwara Ladies, Fortress Ladies, and DreamStar Ladies.
The top team from each group will advance to the next stage, with the winners securing promotion to the NWFL Premiership.
The 2024 NWFL Championship will run from August 31 to September 8 in Calabar.
Last year, Dannaz Ladies, Sunshine Queens, Ekiti Queens, and Remo Stars Ladies secured promotion in the 2023 NWFL Championship held in Ikenne, Ogun State. This year, only two teams will earn promotion to the topflight while two relegates to the third division at the end of the competition in Calabar.
