Gallant Queens Coach Confident of Promotion to NWFL Premiership

With a perfect start in Group A2, Gallant Queens’ head coach, Adebiyi Adekunle, is optimistic about securing a spot in the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership.

The Zaria-based team has won their first two games in the 2024 NWFL Championship, defeating Wazbak International 2-1 and Kaduna Queens 2-0.

“We are ready to qualify and top the league,” Adekunle told www.thenwfl.com. “We know there are obstacles ahead, but with determination and support, we believe we can achieve our goal.”

The coach reflected on the team’s progress, saying, “This is just the beginning. We are climbing up the ladder, and we thank God for the fair play and success so far.”

Gallant Queens’ squad includes a mix of military personnel and civilians, reflecting their commitment to fostering strong relationships between both groups.

Adekunle emphasized this unique blend, saying, “85% of our players are soldiers. We aim to work with everyone, bridging the gap between civilians and military.”

The team will take a break before their next matches, facing Moje Queens on Wednesday and concluding their group stage against Osun Babes on September 6, 2024.
