Gallant Queens coach Adekunle Adebiyi confident of beating Osun Babes to advance

The final Group A2 encounter in the 2024 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Championship will be a high-stakes affair as Gallant Queens face Osun Babes to determine which team advances to the promotion playoffs.

Both teams head into this crucial match with nine points each, but Osun Babes hold a superior goal difference of +16 compared to Gallant Queens’ +8.

The outcome of this game will decide who progresses to the next stage, with Osun Babes needing only a draw to secure their place, while Gallant Queens must win to advance.

Gallant Queens’ head coach, Adekunle Adebiyi, expressed confidence in his team’s ability to secure a victory.

“This is just the beginning. I don’t have much to say until we qualify from the group. Our aim is to qualify from the group then we will know the next steps to take,” Adebiyi told www.thenwfl.com.

“The last group match will decide our fate and by God’s grace we are going to carry the day and qualify. Yes, we have been able to watch some of their games but that is not our business. That is not what I am after. My own is to come out for the match and get victory.”

In this pivotal game, Gallant Queens will rely on experienced players such as Rejoice Atetan, Favour Okafor, Blessing Dabrinze, and Ukeme Okon to break through the defense of Osun Babes. The Omoluabi Ladies, managed by Wole Animashaun, have demonstrated exceptional defensive prowess, having not conceded a goal in their previous 270 minutes of NWFL Championship play.

Osun Babes will counter with their attacking forces, including Kafayat Bashiru, Rebecca Omodele, and Victory Odanlumen, who will be crucial in seeking goals and maintaining their unbeaten defensive record.

The decisive match will take place on Friday, and its outcome will determine which team progresses to the NWFL Championship promotion playoffs.
