Despite their impressive record in the 2024 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Championship, Osun Babes are maintaining a disciplined approach as they prepare for their decisive final group match against Gallant Queens.
The Omoluabi Babes have been in exceptional form, netting 16 goals and maintaining a perfect defensive record across their first three games against Moje Queens, Wazbak International, and Kaduna Queens.
With nine points and a superior goal difference, Osun Babes top Group A2, tied on points with Gallant Queens but leading on goal difference.
Ahead of this critical encounter, Osun Babes’ head coach, Wole Animashaun, is emphasizing the importance of focusing on one game at a time, despite his team’s outstanding performance.
“It is God’s doing. If any coach says they fully understand why their team is scoring so many goals, it’s a beautiful lie. But when God is on your side, things will work out,” Animashaun told www.thenwfl.com.
He added, “Success doesn’t come without effort. We’ve worked hard on our attacking strategies and our prayers have been answered. We’ve studied our next opponents, but our primary focus is on this upcoming match against Gallant Queens.”
The potential for a high-stakes playoff clash with Ibom Angels looms, which could determine who advances to the NWFL Premiership. However, Animashaun insists that the immediate focus remains on the game against Gallant Queens.
“Let’s handle Gallant Queens first before discussing Ibom Angels. It’s one step at a time. We are preparing thoroughly, and I believe that with God’s help, we will come out victorious. We are a team blessed by divine favor.”
A victory over Gallant Queens will ensure Osun Babes a spot in the promotion playoffs, while a loss could open the door for Gallant Queens to advance to the next stage.
