2024/25 NWFL Premiership MD 2 Reviews: Edo Queens, Remo Stars and Robo Queens Maintain Perfect Start

The 2024/25 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership continued with an action-packed Matchday two on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, where three teams – Edo Queens, Remo Stars, and FC Robo Queens – maintained their perfect records with consecutive victories.

FC Robo Queens had to work hard to secure their second win of the season, following a 5-1 victory over Benue Queens in their opener. In a tough encounter against Adamawa Queens at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Lagos, the Landladies came from behind to win 2-1. Adamawa’s Anastasia Tarfo had put the visitors ahead in the 24th minute, but Favour Nkwocha equalized in the 70th minute. With the match approaching a draw, Opeyemi Ajakaye, fresh from her return to the team from the USA, scored the winner in the 90th minute, ensuring a dramatic finish for Robo Queens.

At the Dan Anyiam StadiumEdo Queens, the defending champions, continued their strong start to the season, defeating Heartland Queens 2-1. Goodness Osigwe’s brace secured the win for Moses Aduku’s side, despite a spirited equalizer from Monica Matthew for the hosts. This victory marks Edo Queens’ second win in as many games, as they remain unbeaten.

Remo Stars also maintained their perfect start to the season with a narrow 1-0 win over Ekiti Queens. Olamide Bolaji’s 52nd-minute goal was the difference in a tight match that was broadcast live on NTA Sports24 and StarTimes. Remo Stars have now collected two wins from two matches.

In a bounce-back performance, Abia Angels triumphed 3-0 over Nasarawa Amazons after their heavy 5-0 loss to Edo Queens in the opening match. Goals from Merit Offor, Dorothy Eshiet, and Chiamaka Ojialor gave the Angels their first win of the season.

Dannaz Ladies also recovered from their opening match loss to Nasarawa Amazons with a 2-0 victory over Confluence Queens. Zainab Raji and Omotoke Ogunfuwa scored in the first half to ensure Dannaz returned to winning ways.

Meanwhile, Delta Queens secured their first win of the season with a 2-0 triumph over Benue Queens in Asaba. A brace from Princess Adam was enough to seal the victory for Peter Dedevbo’s side.

In the South-South derby, Ibom Angels and Bayelsa Queens played out a goalless draw, while the other star match of the day saw Naija Ratels and Rivers Angels draw 1-1. Chisom Nwachukwu opened the scoring for Rivers Angels in the 46th minute, but Oladeji Oluwabunmi equalized just four minutes later for Naija Ratels.
