NWFL Premiership MD 6 Reviews: Bayelsa Queens end Naija Ratels’ unbeaten run as Remo Stars continue fine run

The 2024/25 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership Matchday Six delivered high-intensity action across the country on Wednesday, leaving only four teams unbeaten in the top-flight this season.

Bayelsa Queens 2-1 Naija Ratels
Bayelsa Queens handed Naija Ratels their first defeat of the season with a hard-fought 2-1 victory in Yenagoa. The home side missed an opportunity to take the lead in the first half when Florence Alexander struck the crossbar from the penalty spot.
Despite being under pressure, Naija Ratels stunned the hosts in the 71st minute when Adanna Nwachukwu powered in a header to break the deadlock. However, their lead was short-lived as Dooshima Tarnum drew Bayelsa level just two minutes later with a well-taken set-piece. The turnaround was completed in the 77th minute, when Delight Isaac calmly slotted home the winner, sealing an important win for Ogbonda Whyte’s side.

Benue Queens 0-2 Rivers Angels
In Lafia, Rivers Angels extended their unbeaten run with a commanding 2-0 win over struggling Benue Queens, who have now lost all six of their matches this season.
After a tight first half, Ifeoma Polinus broke the deadlock in the 56th minute, and Mary Moses doubled the advantage in the 81st minute, sealing Rivers Angels’ fourth victory of the campaign.


Dannaz Ladies 0-2 Remo Stars Ladies
Over in Lagos, Remo Stars Ladies continued their fine form, claiming a 2-0 victory over Dannaz Ladies in the South West derby.
Kafayat Bashiru put the visitors ahead in the 25th minute with a composed finish. The in-form Bolaji Olamide, the league’s leading goal scorer, extended her remarkable scoring streak by netting her eighth goal of the season in the 73rd minute, ensuring that she has scored in every game so far.

Confluence Queens 0-2 Edo Queens
Defending champions Edo Queens maintained their dominance with a 2-0 victory over Confluence Queens, condemning the hosts to their sixth consecutive defeat.
Sadiat Adebiyi broke the deadlock in the 17th minute, and Emem Essien secured the points with a fine finish in the 76th minute.

Abia Angels 1-0 Ekiti Queens
In Umuahia, a solitary strike in the 21st minute from Chiamaka Ojialor was enough to give Abia Angels a narrow 1-0 victory over Ekiti Queens at the Umuahia Township Stadium.

Nasarawa Amazons 2-0 Heartland Queens
Still searching for their first win of the season, Heartland Queens fell to a 2-0 defeat against Nasarawa Amazons in Lafia.
Following a goalless first half, Jenat Akekeromowei found the net in the 58th minute, and Olushola Shobowale wrapped up the win in the 84th minute, lifting Nasarawa Amazons to their fourth win of the season.

Ibom Angels 3-1 Adamawa Queens
In Uyo, Ibom Angels delivered a solid performance to claim a 3-1 victory over Adamawa Queens.
Ijeoma Onweagba fired the hosts into the lead in the 11th minute, but Loveth Boygyande equalized for Adamawa Queens in the 21st minute. However, Abasiofon Uwah restored Ibom Angels’ advantage in the 63rd minute, before Hellen Daniel sealed the win in the 82nd minute.


Delta Queens 4-1 FC Robo Queens
Former champions Delta Queens recorded their biggest win of the season with an emphatic 4-1 triumph over Robo Queens.
Destiny Itobor opened the scoring in the 9th minute before adding her second in the 39th minute. Goodness Ihima extended the lead in the 64th minute, and Priscilla Omeje put the icing on the cake in the 78th minute. Robo Queens managed a consolation goal through Abiodun Adeola in the 83rd minute, but it was too little, too late.


At the end of Matchday 6, Bayelsa Queens, Rivers Angels, Remo Stars Ladies, and Edo Queens remain the only unbeaten teams in the league as the battle for supremacy continues into Matchday 7 next week.
