After a two-week mid-season break, the 2024/25 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership returns with Matchday Eight fixtures across various venues on Wednesday, March 19, 2025. The second half of the season begins with teams seeking to consolidate their positions on the league table or turn around their fortunes.
The upcoming matches serve as reverse fixtures of Matchday Seven, which concluded the first stanza, producing a record 27-goal. Remo Stars Ladies, Edo Queens, Rivers Angels, and Bayelsa Queens remain the only unbeaten sides in the league, while teams at the bottom will be eager to climb out of the relegation zone.
Group A Fixtures
Ekiti Queens vs Edo Queens – Ilorin Township Stadium
Ekiti Queens, playing at their adopted home in Ilorin, will aim to maintain their solid home form, having won three matches at their original home ground in Ado-Ekiti. However, they face a tough test against Edo Queens, the defending champions, who are yet to suffer defeat this season.
Edo Queens dominated the reverse fixture with a 3-0 win, courtesy of goals from Chioma Moses, Mary Mamudu, and Kafayat Mafisere. The Benin-based side has proven to be one of the most formidable teams in the league, sitting second in Group A with five wins and two draws.
Historically, Edo Queens have won two of their last three encounters with Ekiti Queens but suffered a 1-0 defeat in Ado-Ekiti last season. Ekiti Queens will look to build on that past home victory as they hope to upset the champions.
Confluence Queens vs Heartland Queens – Anyigba
Confluence Queens enter this fixture still searching for their first point of the season, having lost all seven league matches so far. The Kogi-based side has struggled to make an impact in the league and will be desperate to end their poor run.
Heartland Queens, on the other hand, will aim to build on their first victory of the season, which came in the reverse fixture against Confluence Queens (3-0). Before that win, they had gone six matches without a victory, recording two draws and four losses.
Both sides have recorded one win each in their last three meetings, with one match ending in a draw. Heartland Queens will hope to carry their newfound momentum into this encounter, while Confluence Queens will be eager to avoid another defeat.
Nasarawa Amazons vs Remo Stars Ladies – Lafia Township Stadium
Nasarawa Amazons will seek to defend their perfect home record when they take on Remo Stars Ladies in Lafia. The Solid Babes have won all three home matches in the first stanza and will hope to continue that dominance.
However, they face a tough challenge in Remo Stars Ladies, who remain unbeaten in the league. The Sky Blue Ladies have secured six wins and one draw so far, boasting one of the best away records in the league.
The last encounter between these two teams ended in a 4-0 victory for Remo Stars in Ikenne, a result Nasarawa Amazons will be eager to avenge. Remo Stars have strengthened their squad during the break with the addition of Omotoke Ogunfuwa (Dannaz Ladies) and Eberechukwu Oleka (Osun Babes), signaling their intent to maintain their fine form.
Abia Angels vs Dannaz Ladies – Umuahia Township Stadium
Abia Angels will look to complete a double over Dannaz Ladies, following their 4-1 victory in the reverse fixture, where Mary Lucky netted a hat-trick.
Abia Angels have a perfect home record this season, winning all their matches in Umuahia. Meanwhile, Dannaz Ladies have struggled on the road, failing to secure a single away victory.
Both teams have been evenly matched in recent encounters, with Abia Angels winning two of their last three league meetings, while Dannaz Ladies secured one victory. Given this history, another closely contested game is expected.
Group B Fixtures
Adamawa Queens vs Rivers Angels – Makhwada Stadium, Numan
Adamawa Queens will play at Makhwada Stadium in Numan as they look to protect their unbeaten home record. In the first stanza, they won two of their three home matches, previously played at Pantami Stadium, Gombe.
However, they face a daunting challenge against Rivers Angels, who thrashed them 6-0 in Port Harcourt in the reverse fixture—the biggest win recorded so far this season.
Rivers Angels remain one of the title contenders, boasting an unbeaten record with five wins and two draws. Their impressive away form includes two wins and a draw, making them a formidable opponent for Adamawa Queens.
Benue Queens vs Naija Ratels – Lafia Township Stadium
Benue Queens, like Confluence Queens, have endured a torrid campaign, losing all seven matches so far. They face Naija Ratels, who edged them 1-0 in Abuja in the first stanza, thanks to a last-minute goal by Sofia Bankole.
Naija Ratels have had a mixed season, securing two wins, four draws, and one defeat. They will be aiming for another victory to climb higher in the standings.
Benue Queens, however, will be desperate to avoid another loss and finally secure their first point of the campaign.
Bayelsa Queens vs FC Robo Queens – Samson Siasia Stadium, Yenagoa
One of the most anticipated fixtures of the weekend sees Bayelsa Queens host FC Robo Queens. The Prosperity Girls remain unbeaten in seven matches and will be looking to maintain their dominance at home.
Bayelsa Queens won the reverse fixture 3-1 in Lagos, extending their strong record against FC Robo Queens. In the last eight head-to-head encounters, both teams have won four matches each, with no draws recorded.
At home, Bayelsa Queens have defeated Ibom Angels, Adamawa Queens, and Naija Ratels, showcasing their strength in Yenagoa. FC Robo Queens will need to put in a strong performance if they hope to secure points in this encounter.
Ibom Angels vs Delta Queens – Uyo Township Stadium
In a South-South derby, Ibom Angels welcome Delta Queens to Uyo. The hosts will be eager to continue their recent good form at home, having won their last two matches after an initial 0-0 draw with Bayelsa Queens.
Delta Queens, on the other hand, have struggled on the road, losing two of their three away matches in the first stanza. However, they head into this fixture on the back of a three-match unbeaten run, including a 1-1 draw with Naija Ratels before the break.

With the second half of the season underway, the battle for playoff spots and league survival intensifies. Edo Queens, Rivers Angels, Bayelsa Queens, and Remo Stars Ladies will be aiming to extend their dominance, while struggling teams such as Benue Queens and Confluence Queens will be desperate to turn their seasons around.
