The Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) held its Annual General Assembly (AGA) on Wednesday in Port Harcourt, setting the stage for the 2025/26 NWFL Premiership season, officially scheduled to kick off on November 26, 2025.
The Assembly brought together key stakeholders, including Rivers State Sports Commissioner Barr. Chris Green, Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) board member Madam Aisha Falode, representing the NFF President—club representatives, league administrators, and members of the media, all united in their commitment to advancing women’s football in Nigeria.
The upcoming season will feature 20 teams divided into two zones of 10, promising an exciting start from Matchday One. The opening Star Match of the Season will see defending champions Bayelsa Queens take on Edo Queens, setting the tone for a highly competitive campaign.
Group A will feature Bayelsa Queens, alongside Adamawa Queens, Pacesetter Queens, Heartland Queens, Ekiti Queens, Naija Ratels FC, Ibom Angels, Castmog Ladies, and Rivers Angels.
Group B will be led by last season’s runners-up Nasarawa Amazons, competing with Confluence Queens, Delta Queens, Sunshine Queens, Ahudiyannem Queens, Dannaz Ladies, Remo Stars Ladies, Osun Babes, Abia Angels, and FC Robo Queens.
The season will also welcome three debutants—Ahudiyannem Queens, Castmog Ladies, and Pacesetter Queens, who earned promotion through strong performances in the Championship playoffs.
The AGA reaffirmed the NWFL’s commitment to professionalism, commercial growth, and player welfare, emphasizing continued efforts to elevate women’s football in Nigeria both on and off the pitch.
