2025 NWFL Championship MD4 Reviews: Imo Striker Queens Seal Historic Premiership Promotion

Imo Striker Queens have secured a historic first-ever promotion to the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership, completing the quartet of clubs advancing from the 2025 Championship season.

On Matchday Four in Abiriba, Abia State, Nelly Orisakwe’s side recorded a commanding 2-0 victory over Ghetto Tigers to book their ticket to the top flight with a game to spare.

Amoke James broke the deadlock in the 37th minute with a well-placed header, before Chiamaka Damian doubled the advantage in the 77th minute to put the result beyond doubt.

The win lifted the Owerri-based side nine points clear at the top of Group B2, five ahead of both Osun Babes and Ghetto Tigers, ensuring their promotion could no longer be challenged.

Imo Striker Queens now join Sunshine Queens, Castmog Ladies, and Ahudiyannem Queens in the Premiership for next season.

Of the quartet, only Sunshine Queens boast previous top-flight experience, with the other three sides set for their maiden campaigns.

Earlier in the day, Moje Queens and Osun Babes battled to a goalless draw — a result that mathematically ended both teams’ chances of promotion.

Osun Babes will wrap up their campaign against Delta Babes on Sunday, while newly promoted Imo Striker Queens face Moje Queens in a concluding but inconsequential fixture.
