Rivers Angels Manager, Edwin Okon has called his team’s 2021 NWFL Premiership win as huge and special following his the ‘Jewels of Rivers’ slow start to the Super 6 Campaign.
Rivers Angels won their 7th league title on Sunday at the Otunba Dipo Dina international Stadium, Ijebu-ode after recording three huge victories against Bayelsa Queens, Edo Queens and Sunshine Queens, while also drawing against FC Robo Queens and Delta Queens.
The former Super Falcons coach told www.thenwfl.com that the constant battle in the NWFL Premiership Super 6 made the victory more special.
“It’s a huge victory and I am glad we could achieve this. I am extremely thankful to God almighty, the Government and management of the team and most importantly the players who fought their heart out on the pitch. It’s a team effort and we all played our roles.
“I feel extremely happy, for all the trophies we have been able to win and we more hardwork and dedication, we shall should win more titles.
When asked about how he feels the team will fair at the WAFU Zone B Qualifiers and the CAF Women Champions League, the experienced manager said he is confident of a good performance in Africa.
“We are fully prepared on the task ahead, we know we are representing not just the good people of Rivers State, but Nigeria as a whole, we have a great team and will keep the momentum going, even in Africa.” He concluded .
