NWFL Premiership 2021 Topscorers: Monday, Odubanjo, Samuel Lead.

The goalscoring chart of the NWFL Premiership is getting more competitive by the day, three candidates top the chart as at week 4 of the biggest women football league in Africa.

Gift Monday, Dominance Odubanjo and Yemisi Samuel are early pace-setters in the race for the NWFL Premiership Golden boot, having surged out in front in the opening four games.

Gift Monday of FC Robo Queens is ontop of the chart with 4 goals, while Dominance Odubanjo of Delta Queens and Yemisi Samuel of Osun Babes are both on three.

They are joined by Adesina Rosemary of Royal Queens, Anjor Mary & Joy Jerry of Bayelsa Queens, Tessy Biahwo of Edo Queens, Blessing Nkor and Uduakaobong Peter of Ibom Angels, Deborah Abiodun and Brume Ikhekua of Rivers Angels, Seun Fakunle of Sunshine Queens, Amarachi Ojinma of Delta Queens, Anuoluwapo Salisu of DreamStars Ladies and Shobowale Rukayat of FC Robo are all on two goals.

FC Robo Queens forward Gift Monday has received her NWFL Premiership December Player of the month award at the Legacy Football Pitch on Wednesday afternoon.

The former C.O.D Ladies striker was presented with the award just before the week 4 game between FC Robo Queens and Pelican Stars which ended 5-1 in favour of the ‘Lagos Landladies’.

Monday gained 60% of the votes from women football experts and became the first recipient of the prestigious award in the 2021 season of the NWFL Premiership.

Speaking after receiving the award, the Super Falcons player was grateful to her teammates and manager for giving her the support needed.

” This award means alot to me and my career. I am grateful to God almighty and of course my teammates who gave me all the supports needed to succeed.

“The technical crew, backroom staff and all supporters of FC Robo Queens for pushing the team towards greatness always.”

Monday Gift and Bayelsa Queens Manager Moses Aduku both won the NWFL Premiership player and manager of the month of December.

The organisers of the Naija Women Football League Awards has announced FC Robo Queens forward Gift Monday as the NWFL Premiership player of the month of December, with Bayelsa Queens boss Moses Aduku also named manager of the month.

Gift Monday scored three goals and made an assist in the month of December, and also helped her side record a rare win in Lafia against Nasarawa Amazons on matchday one.

The Super Falcons forward propelled her side to 4th on the log of the NWFL Premiership after three games, recording two victories, which she played an important role in.

The former C.O.D Ladies of Lagos player beats off competition from Osun Babes forward Yemisi Samuel, Dominance Odubanjo of Delta Queens, Jumoke Alani of Edo Queens and Abidemi Ibe of Bayelsa Queens to win the monthly award for the first time in her career.

Also, Bayelsa Queens Gaffer, Moses Aduku has been named the NWFL Premiership Manager for the month after guiding his side to three wins from three Premiership games in December.

Victories against Sunshine Queens in Yenagoa, another one against Nasarawa Amazons in Lafia before ending the month with a 1-0 win over FC Robo Queens last week.

The run helped Bayelsa Queens move to the top of the NWFL Premiership, where they remain ahead of every other team, giving him an edge over Rollandson Odeh of Edo Queens who won two and drew one, Yinka Adunola, who won two, but lost one, Osahon Emmanuel who won two and also lost one and Edwin Okon who recorded a victory and two away draws in the month of December.

“Moses Aduku guided Bayelsa Queens to three wins in three league matches last month.”

It’s the third time he has won the individual award.

The awards will be presented to the duo before week 4 kick-off on Wednesday.

Osun Babes Captain Sarah Iloduba did not mince words in describing the captain of FC Robo Monday Gift as a terror. Gift made sure that Osun babes went back to Osogbo empty handed in their week two away game against FC Robo. The Super Falcons forward punished the ‘Omoluabi Queens’ with a hat trick that could be termed as world class goals.

Monday Gift has a good record against Osun Babes and was the lone scorer when FC Robo Queens won Osun Babes at the Legacy Pitch in 2019..

Describing her, Iloduba who has played against Gift alot of times said she is a terror, who doesn’t allow her to rest at her position during games.

” Monday Gift is a terror anyday, a difficult player to hold down on the pitch of play”. She said.

Osun babes has had two consecutive away fixtures since the commencement of the NWFL Premiership and losing to FC Robo means the side have to work harder against Pelican Stars in Osogbo on matchday 3.

The team got an away win against Ibom Angels in their first game but caved in heavily in the second half against FC Robo in Lagos to lose by 3 goals to 1.
