Damilola Koku 47′,Regina Otu 82′, Ibinabo Georgewill 90+3‘

Rivers Angels continued to keep the heat on Bayelsa Queens in the race for the NWFL title as they hammered Royal Queens 3-0 in Port Harcourt. Royal Queens tried to repel the Jewels of Rivers in the first half but they were at the backfoot at the start of the second half through Damilola Koku but the second and the third goals from Regina Otu and Ibinabo Georgewill killed off any attempt of a comeback in the 82nd and 93rd minute. Rivers Angels remain unbeaten but they are in the second spot behind Bayelsa Queens with 20 points from eight games while Royal Queens are in the 10th position with 10 points.

Amarachi Okoronkwo 18′ Lola Phillips 52′

Nasarawa Amazons are truly back and have won their last three games after a lacklustre start to the season. They added Osun Babes to their victims on Wednesday at the Lafia Township Stadium. Nasarawa Amazons are now seventh with 12 points but Osun Babes slid to the sixth spot also with 12 points.

Mary Anjor 10′, 48′, Joy Bokiri 38′, Charity Reuben 84′

Bayelsa Queens continued to absorb the pressure threw at them by Rivers Angels and despite playing on a neutral turf of the Dan Anyiam Stadium, Owerri, the Restoration Ladies slammed hapless Ibom Angels 4-0.

Joy Bokiri with the second goal in the 38th minute sandwiching Anjor’s goals while Charity Reuben continued her impressive stats with her fifth goal of the season. She has scored in Bayelsa Queens’ last three games. The Restoration Ladies continue to hold on to their one-point advantage at the top with 21 points from eight games. Ibom Angels on their part are in the 13th spot with a paltry four points. They have the second poorest defence in the league having conceded 13 goals from eight games. Only Royal Queens (13 goals), and DreamStars Ladies (18 goals) have shipped in more.

Joy Omewa 16′

Joy Omewa lived up to her preseason hype with the goal that delivered the three points to Confluence Queens at home to Abia Angels in Lokoja. The Yahaya Bello Ladies have been enmeshed in off-the-pitch crises that slowed down their performances but they seemed to be getting over it after their first win in three games.

They are in the eighth spot with 11 points from eight games while Abia Angels losing streak saw them slide to the 11th spot with six points from the expected 24 points.

Dominance Odubanjo 52′

After going through a purple patch in recent games, Dominance Odubanjo dominated the headline at the Agbor Township Stadium with the only goal of the game in their 1-0 victory over Edo Queens. Odubanjo struck seven minutes into the second half, her fourth goal of the season and the hard fighting Obaseki Ladies couldn’t muster a comeback.

Sunshine Queens 0 Edo Queens 0

The only goalless match of week 4. Edo Queens departed Benin with high hopes of picking valuable points in Akure. The ‘Betty’ babes started slowly in the game and paid for it as Edo Queens rattled their way through early in the game, but never saw the back of the net.

The Obaseki Ladies created many goalscoring chances, but were unlucky not to have led in the game. The 0-0 scoreline was indeed a disappointing result for the hometeam, however they will be looking forward to covering up when they face Abia Angels next week in Umuahia, while Edo Queens will be welcoming Nasarawa Amazons to the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin.

Royal Queens 1 Osun Babes 0 (Eunice Godwin 88′)

Olayinka Adunola’s side were very unlucky to lose at the dying stages against Royal Queens at the Warri Township Stadium.

Osun Babes started the match with some intensity and could have scored early in the game, but after that brief spell, they fell short and found it hard to get their rhythm back until later on in the game.

It was the second win for Paul Mene and his players. Olayinka Adunola will be pushing for a win in their next game against Dreamstar Ladies in Osogbo.

DreamStar Ladies 3 Ibom Angels 2

Anuoluwapo Salisu’s brace from the spot gave the ‘Galaticas’ the needed victory after Uduakaobong Peter and Blessing Nkor had scored earlier for the ‘Orange’ Ladies.

With this win, Dreamstar Ladies will surely go into their next game against Osun Babes with alot of confidence, while Ibom Angels will welcome Rivers Angels to their home at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo.

Rivers Angels 2 Abia Angels 0 (Deborah Abiodun 54′ ,Reine Bekendje (OG) 90′).

Unexpectedly, the first half ended goalless, which got Edwin Okon furious and uncomfortable during the break. However Deborah Abiodun’s 54th minute effort got them on track before Vivian Ikechukwu doubled the effort in the 90th minute.

Bayelsa Queens 2 Confluence Queens 1.

(Nkechi Agams 10′ , Joy Jerry 42′ , Anjor Mary (Pen) 65′)

Having won three games on the bounce before this encounter, Bayelsa Queens were optimistic of a victory, but it wasn’t easy as they fought hard to come from a goal down after Nkechi Agams had gotten the visiting side off a flying start when she netted her first goal of the season in the 10th minute.

In-form forward Joy Jerry drew level in the 43rd minute before Anjor Mary scored from the spot in the 65th minute to give her side the needed victory.

Confluence Queens will welcome FC Robo in their next game, while Bayelsa Queens will travel to Agbor to face Delta Queens.
