Imo Striker Queens wrapped up the 2025 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Championship in style, securing promotion to the Premiership with a flawless campaign capped by a 7-1 demolition of Moje Queens in Abiriba on Sunday.
Braces from Osinachi Ugbala and Pattra Oparanmegwa, alongside goals from Nmesoma Amaechi, Anastasia Uzor, and Anoke James, powered the Owerri-based side to a resounding victory. Toyin Oyewole scored a consolation for Moje Queens.
The result meant Imo Striker Queens finished the season with a maximum 12 points from four matches, becoming the only side to win all their games. They joined Sunshine Queens, which also completed a perfect record in Group A1, as the standout teams of the campaign.
Earlier on Sunday, Delta Babes defeated Osun Babes 2-1, with goals from Mary Samuel and Ifeoma Damian canceling out an own goal by Hope Chidinma Plus. The win secured second place for Delta Babes in Group B2.
Group Summaries
Group A1: Sunshine Queens sealed promotion with six points from three matches, edging Fortress Ladies (four points). Kwara Ladies (two) and Unification FC (one) completed the table.
Group A2: Castmog Ladies topped the group with six points, finishing ahead of Gallant Queens and First Mahi Babes (four points each), while Royal Queens earned two points.
Group B1: Hosts Ahudiyannem Queens finished top with seven points, followed by Wazbak International FC (five), Pelican Stars (four), and Chosen Generation Angels, who ended without a point.
Group B2: Imo Striker Queens dominated with 12 points, ahead of Delta Babes (six). Ghetto Tigers and Osun Babes finished level on four points each, while Moje Queens collected just one.
Promotion to the Premiership
The quartet of Sunshine Queens, Castmog Ladies, Ahudiyannem Queens, and Imo Striker Queens secured promotion to the NWFL Premiership.
Among them, only Sunshine Queens have top-flight experience, with the other three making their maiden appearance at Nigeria’s highest level of women’s club football.
